I'm Back
I flirted with irreverence with the JZ experience, but it was really more a way for me to get away for a few months and post on topics outside of my MZ norm. Quite frankly, my frustration for what's been going on in Israel developed into full-fledged burnout. One thing I did retain, though, from JZ was the basic black background. It seemed to fit my message at MZ better than the old colors.
So you see, despite my disgust I found myself unable to completely get Israel out of my blood, and after a much-needed 60 day hiatus I can now come back with the vim and vigor you've come to expect from MZ. So here I am, back to make you laugh, rage, and think, while tackling subjects with a perspective that is still, sadly, all too rare.
6/30 UPDATE: Haloscan is now installed, so all the old comments have been restored.

MKs: Olmert's high treason punishable by death
Section B: Treason
97 (a). A person who, with intent to violate the sovereignty of the state, commits an act that has the potential to violate the state's sovereignty is liable to life imprisonment or the death penalty.
97 (b). A person who, with intent that any area be withdrawn from the sovereignty of the state or placed under the sovereignty of a foreign state, commits an act that has the potential to bring this about is liable to life imprisonment or the death penalty...
I had to come out of my sabbatical for this one. MZ's renowned, determined call for Olmert to be prosecuted and executed for high treason is gaining some steam in the Knesset. The idea was proposed in a special Knesset meeting this week by MKs Eldad and Eitan (NU), who were enraged by Olmert's clandestine effort to unilatterally concede the Golan Heights to Syria.
The chances of Olmert actually ever being tried, and subsequently executed, for treason in an Israeli court is incredibly remote, of course. However, the fact that it is openly being called for by elected members of the knesset at least brings awareness that the high crime of giving away land to the enemy will not go unchecked.
I am so proud of these men. To openly call for the Prime Minister to be tried for treason, and face the death penalty if convicted, takes incredible courage.
Ynet: "He whose acts remove lands from the State's territories and from its control will be sentenced to death," Knesset Member Arieh Eldad (National Union-National ReligiousParty) said Monday. Eldad spoke during a special meeting of the Knesset's Golan Heights lobby. He explained that he was referring to "a definition of the treason clause in the Penal Law."
His faction member, MK Effie Eitam, a resident of Moshav Nov in the Golan, noted that "we must make it clear that we are talking about death by a court of law."
In the letter titled "A treason offence", Eldad claimed that "the Golan Heights Law from 1981 applies the Israeli law on the Golan Heights as it is a sovereign part of the State of Israe. The Israeli Penal Code from 1977 defines in clause 97B the term 'treason': A person who caused a territory to be removed from the State's sovereignty or enter the sovereignty of a foreign country, an act which could lead to a death sentence or life imprisonment."
The MK added that "since Prime Minister Ehud Olmert stated that he is holding Turkish mediated negotiations with Syria, which are aimed at signing a peace agreement in exchange for handing over the Golan Heights to Syria, his acts are similar to a treason offense.
"I would be much obliged if you could instruct the police to launch a probe into this matter, and if it is found that Mr. Olmert committed this offense, you should instruct that he be tried for treason."

I'm changing formats
I have found myself growing increasingly negative and ambivalent about the State of Israel since Sharon and Olmert expelled the Jews from Gaza. As a result, my desire to post topics about the current events in Israel has shriveled to almost nothing, and my writing overall has become increasingly forced and much less impassioned.
I am frustrated beyond words at how Israel, and most Israelis, have thrown in the Zionist towel and become self-loathing dhimmis, persecuting the Settlers as a sacrifice with the tragic hope it will somehow bring peace with the moslems.
Therefore, because I consider the Israeli government to be corrupt traitors to the Jewish people, and believe the policies of the state increasingly anti-Semitic, I think it would be hypocritical of me to continue posing as an Israeli activist. I still believe in Kahane's vision, but I wash my hands of the political entity masquerading as a Jewish state.
Feh, I can't do it anymore.
Anyway, my new format will be more in the form of my own thoughts and opinions as they come to my head. More journal style, if you will. I will comment on life in general, current events, personal matters, occasionally Israel, or whatever the f--k comes to mind at that moment.
If it's going to be written as an honest blog, well, that's how it will have to be for the foreseeable future. Writing my random thoughts, concerns, opinions, humorous anecdotes, and general observations, without being bogged down by a cause that appears hopelessly lost, will be incredibly liberating.
Jaded Zionist makes a lot more sense.
Anyway, hope you'll like it, but, if not, well it's my site so tough sh-t for you.

Happy Purim
Tomorrow will be the big feast, or seudah, in which we revel, drink to excess, and have nothing but joy in our hearts as we sing and celebrate. Some will option to dress in costume again, while others don't observe that custom and will dress in normal attire.
I hope you all have a wonderful Purim, and please make sure to drink and eat too much!
Chag Semayach Purim!

Lots to discuss...

There have been several developments over the past few days in Israel that deserve attention. Most encouraging of all was seeing rightwing Zionist nationals lead an angry demonstration to destroy the house of the Arab filth who murdered the Yeshiva students.
Rav Kahane would have surely been proud of them.
(IsraelNN.com) At least 13 Jews were arrested Sunday in Jabel Mukaber, in southern Jerusalem, after nationalist protesters entered the village to try and tear down the home of the terrorist who murdered eight yeshiva boys 10 days ago. Some time after 8:00 P.M., the police declared the demonstration illegal and dispersed the protesters. One police officer was very lightly hurt.
There was damage to property inside the village, including cars and homes. The events began after 5:00 P.M., when hundreds of nationalist Jews gathered at the Armon HaNatziv promenade with the intent of entering Jabel Mukaber and tearing down the house of the terrorist who murdered the Mercaz Harav yeshiva students.
'The Arab enemy within us'
The placards announcing the protest were directed against "Israeli Arabs" and said: "The Arab enemy within us, in Lod, Akko and Wadi Ara, and in Jerusalem, supports and encourages murder of Jews."
They added: "In the face of the state authorities' inaction, we shall come ourselves and do what needs to be done as representatives of the People of Israel." Several dozen Jews managed to go around the police roadblocks and enter the village. to be done as representatives of the People of Israel."
They ended with a Purim allusion: "The opposite shall happen: the Jews shall control their haters." Meir Indor, who heads the Almagor terror victims' group, was among those arrested at Jabel Mukaber. He said: "Tonight's activities showed that if the government of Israel refuses to strike back at the enemy after terrorist attacks, the people of Israel will. The ongoing policy of surrender and concessions is what invites these terrorist attacks against us."
In other news, a leading hareidi Rabbi has issued a halachic ruling banning Jews in Israel from hiring Arabs. The hareidim have often been bitterly, and deservedly, criticized by religious Zionists and rightwing nationals for not sufficiently supporting Israel's right to exist as a Jewish State. This is a very welcome move in the right direction.
(IsraelNN.com):Rabbi Chaim Kanievsky, considered a top Torah sage of the generation in the hareidi-religious community, issued a Jewish legal decision banning the employment of Arab workers by Jews according to the Yom Chadash daily.
The rabbi issued the decision at a meeting with several administrators of yeshivas (seminaries) in B’nei Brak. The administrators each employ an older Arab man who they do not suspect of any involvement in terrorism. The administrators decided, nonetheless to seek halachic (Jewish legal) guidance following reports that the terrorist who carried out the massacre at Jerusalem’s Merkaz HaRav Yeshiva had been hired as a driver on occasion.
“According to Jewish law, it is completely forbidden to hire Arabs, especially in yeshivas,” Rabbi Kanievsky said. “There is a concern of endangering lives.”
The rabbi continued, explaining, “After all, we are at war with them…and are there not Jews that can work and make a living?”
Asked later if his words should be publicized, Rabbi Kanievsky said: “Certainly,” according to the News First Class site.
Rabbi Kanievsky went even further, saying that Jews should refrain from employing any non-Jews, not just Muslim Arabs, and instead grant livelihood to Jews, unless there exists a huge disparity between the labor costs.
The rabbi's family told Arutz-7 that the Yom Chadash report is 100% accurate and explained that "although there can be financial justification for hiring foreign workers, G-d forbid should we hire Arabs. We are at war with them."
Rabbi Kanievsky is one of the most recognized authorities in hareidi-religious society. He is the son of the Steipler Rebbe, Rabbi Yisrael Yaakov Kanievsky, and the son-in-law of Rabbi Yosef Shalom Elyashiv, the leader of Lithuanian Hareidi Jewry.
Next, an 18 year old Jewish girl has been held without official charges in an Israeli prison for over 3 months because she "allegedly pushed an Arab", despite the fact that the ARAB HIMSELF denies the incident ever happened! Well, now she was permitted to have a state approved hearing before the nascent Sanhedrin since she will not recognize the corrupt Israeli court system as legitimate. This is important as it is the first time the secular government offered any degree of recognition to a Torah court.
Of course, the secular government assumed the Sanhedrin would rubber stamp their right to imprison this girl indefinitely for no reason, but the government thought wrong. The Sanhedrin ordered her freed at once, but the authorities rejected the decision and sent her straight back to prison despite the court order to honor the Sanhedrin's ruling.
In fact, just to prove a point to everyone, they had the poor girl locked up in solitary confinement just to show they are every bit the scum, lowlife traitors we know that they are.
(IsraelNN.com) Tzviya Sariel of Elon Moreh, who has been held in jail since December for refusing to recognize the authority of the secular court system, was allowed to testify before a Torah court set up by the nascent Sanhedrin Friday. The Sanhedrin Court for Matters of People and State ordered her immediate release.
The court, headed by Rabbi Yisrael Ariel, heard Sariel’s testimony after a judge from Netanya’s Magistrates Court ordered that she be allowed to attend the hearing on the limits of the youth’s struggle against the Israeli judicial system. It is presumed that Netanya Magistrates Court Judge Smadar Kolander-Abramovitch hoped the Sanhedrin court would instruct Sariel to put and end to her struggle and recognize the civil courts.
The Court For Matters of People and State also heard testimony from the girl’s mother, as well as Shmuel Medad of the Honenu legal assistance organization. The court concluded that Sariel’s right to refuse to recognize Israel’s current justice system is justified and ruled that the only limitation to the struggle is the ability of each individual to withstand the difficulties of prison.
The court also ordered that Sariel be released immediately, without any limitations. "Every day and every hour that Tzvia Sariel spends behind bars is a wrongdoing to this girl," Rabbi Ariel ruled. "Justice demands to release her immediately. It is a serious stain on the judiciary system in Israel. According to the Torah law of Israel, we are demanding her immediate release without conditions and to erase the indictment."
The hearing was marked by uncertainty over legal procedure, according to IsraelJustice.com. "Attorneys did not understand what role was given to the rabbinical court in a criminal case and whether the rabbis were granted any authority over the civil court judge who approved the procedure. Usually, Rabbinical courts are only authorized to hear cases that concern marriage and divorce. "There is a question of authorities," Honenu's Meidad explained.
Sariel was arrested in December and has been held for three months for allegedly pushing an Arab who entered her town to pick olives. Judges decided to keep her in prison without formal charges after she refused to cooperate with the secular justice system. Sariel, 18, remains in prison even after two Arab men, witnesses called by the prosecution, testified that she was not involved in the alleged physical assault.
Jabber Mahmoud Hussein, called to the stand by the Prosecution, said: "I managed to come to court twice, despite the fact that the accused didn't hit me or do anything bad to us at all...we are prepared to close this case because all we want is to harvest olives in peace."
Precedent: State of Israel Recognizes Sanhedrin
The Sanhedrin court called for the establishment of a committee to act as bridge between the state's law and Torah law, in light of the legal precedent set by the Israeli court’s recognition of the court and its findings.
“It is no coincidence that the hearing took place on the anniversary of the passing of Moses our teacher, the father of Hebrew law, and close to the days of Purim, when it is said that the Jews reaccepted and affirmed their commitment to the law of the Torah,” a statement from the court said.
After the verdict was read, the court's rabbis, wrapped in prayer shawls, stood and recited the special prayers accepting the justice of the Almighty, according to IsraelJustice.com: "Everyone in the courtroom followed in a loud chant to say the words, 'Hear O' Israel, the L-rd is our G-d, the L-rd is One,' despite an attempt by prison guards to prevent supporters, including Ruth Sariel, Tzvia's mother, from entering the hearing."
Following the hearing, the officials present from the Prisons Authority affirmed their commitment to carry out the verdict of the Sanhedrin court. Prisons' Authority warden Hila Furis reportedly told those present: “The Prisons' Authority recognizes the authority of the [Sanhedrin] court and will act to implement the verdict.” They removed Sariel's leg restraints and claimed she was being brought to the Ramle Magistrates court, where she would be released before the Sabbath.
Sariel was returned to Neve Tirza Prison, however, where she spent the Sabbath. Her parents say she has been placed in solitary confinement. Rabbi Ariel said the court would continue to follow the case and work for Sariel’s release, in accordance with the directives of the Netanya court.
Finally, Moshe Feiglin, the runner-up to Netanyahu for head of the Likud Party, has been banned form entering the UK, and he couldn't be happier! I'm sure our leftwing, UK friend Gert will be terribly disappointed to hear about this development.
(IsraelNN.com) Moshe Feiglin, head of the Likud’s Jewish Leadership faction, has been banned from visiting Britain.
British Home Secretary Jacqui Smith recently sent Feiglin a letter informing him that his presence in the country “would not be conducive to the public good,” due to statements he made in the past calling for harsh measures against terrorists and Arabs who support them.
Feiglin responded with a letter informing Smith that he had not intended to visit Britain in any case. He expressed pride in being included on the list of Israelis banned from Britain along with former Prime Minister Menachem Begin and senior IDF officers.
Interesting week. I am so glad to see the spirit of the true rightwing Zionist nationals and Torah Zionists has not been broken by the vile Olmert regime.
