Israel to call a truce

Now, isn't that special.

Looks like the Pointless War in Gaza is coming to an end. With the lack of any discernable mission now accomplished, Kadima and Labor can officially declare imaginary victory and posture for votes in next month's elections.

(IsraelNN.com) French President Nicolas Sarkozy announced Wednesday that Israel and Hamas have agreed to a cease fire. He said that leaders of both parties will travel to France for cease fire negotiations.

We will now return to our regularly scheduled programming of "Rockets From Gaza" and "Persecute the Settlers". Thank you for playing, and don't forget to pick up your commemorative "Olmert went to war and all I got was this lousy T-shirt" door prize on the way out.

  1. UPDATE: Israel has rejected part of the criteria of the truce and will continue military operations for now.

  2. Madze:

You can be funny when you want to be, I'll grant you that...

Still, it's disconcerting how your and my thinking on that Lovely little micro-war run parallel, even though we're on the opposite side of the spectrum.

You see, I think the boys from the Apartheid Defence Forces should go in and exterminate all of Hamas, no prisoners taken. Then the Apartheid State of Zion (ASZ) will have quiet in the South, a la Olmert: "all we want is quiet". Assuming Hisbollah doesn't try to pull a stunt in the North, we'll then be able to truly gauge what the ASZ will do. Will it oblige its finest (like you) and start the slow (or fast) transfer of the 'Palinazis' from Judea and Samaria?

Or will it simply colonise some more (have you reserved a plot yet?) of J & S and absorb the "vermin" by relegating it to the worst possible spots (and killing as many as possible for as little as lifting a stone? War on Teggog, you know!)?

Or, Heaven forbid, will it try and give the Palis 5 hectares for their state and tell the world about its glorious generosity and Light unto the Nations?

    All to play for!

As regards the truce, it will be agreed on when Olmert calls Bush with the go ahead sign, but not before...

  3. Gert, your comments are starting to disturbingly resemble one John Brown.

  4. Well, that's strange because I'm serious but with a light touch, whereas JB (as far as I recall) was plain abusive. There's no abuse here, nor any spam.

Or would you prefer I reverted back to defend the indefensible: advocacy of a "Two State" solution, which you completely oppose? And for which you can then ridicule me?

Perhaps this will end up a Jews only blog...

Methinks you're trying to have your cake and eat it too...

  5. Gert, your terms describing Israel as "Apartheid Zionist Colonisers" is straight from the JB dictionary. You didn't used to be this hostile towards the Jewish State, but apparently you've radicalized.

  6. I read what you wrote on my blog.

I was amazed how accurate your assessment was. I can't say I like your conclusions.

My comrades say this is Israel's goals: Yet the Zionist bourgeoisie has no clear strategy, even though some of the objectives are clear: redemption for the military and political establishment following the 2006 fiasco in Lebanon (and covering up for four years of bombastic rhetoric and deliberate leaks about long-range bombing exercises in preparation for attacking Iran); boosting Kadima and Labour at the expense of Likud; weakening Hamas and establishing new 'facts on the ground' before the next ceasefire is agreed; and improving their position before the Obama government is sworn in.

I discussed with my comrades the term apartheid towards Israel. We don't use it because its not 100% accurate. We do call Israel a satellite of the US in the Middle East.

Gert is correct. Olmert is getting permission from Bush for the ceasefire.

  7. madze - i know you don't want to discuss christianity on your blog, but here is a birdseye view of what is truly going on in gaza.

  8. Your "comrades"!?

Ren: You really buy into Trotsky's class struggle theories or are you pretending? Do you not realize every Communist regime has ended in millions of civilian casualties? That Communists persecuted the Jewish people? That Communism is worse than Nazism?

See, you have no idea about the situation in Israel, nor will you ever based on your comments. It's not a class struggle; it's a religious/historical/moral dilemma. Agree with Gert all you want. He's not Jewish; you are. In other words, he has an excuse for calling Israel "Apartheid" and so on. You do too for that matter but it's kinda scary to think of what would happen to Israel if every one of us saw it that way.

I think you're a good guy and I'm going to link to you again; I just can't stand your Commie aspirations.

  9. Nanc, at the demonstrations for Israel there are many Christians voicing their support for Israel. At the arab rallies there are essentially zero Christians supporting the Palestinians. I like those numbers, and have told you many times that I am very, very fond of Christians who don't missionize Jews or claim they are practicing Judaism.

You're my very, very good friend, nanc, and I wish there were more of you out there!

  11. Eitan: I don't agree with Gert about using the term apartheid.

Trotsky used the Red Army to smash pogroms.

Stalin used antisemitism against Trotsky. The Moscow Trials and Doctors Plots, were anti-Trotskyist.

Trotsky was the first world leader to call for overthrowing Hitler. In addition he called on all democracies to get ready for battle. He did it 11 years before the antisemite Churchill.

The US only entered the war in Europe, after Stalin told Roosevelt, he wouldn't help against the Japanese, unless he fought Hitler in Europe.

You sound like you only learned yesterday I was a socialist. My links at my blog, have nothing to do with agreement.

  12. Ren: I'm sorry for not having re-linked to you yet. I was away most of the day today. I will contact you via email.

Concerning your comments, I consider them to be factually incorrect.

    You say:

Trotsky used the Red Army to smash pogroms.

Stalin used antisemitism against Trotsky. The Moscow Trials and Doctors Plots, were anti-Trotskyist.

Trotsky was the first world leader to call for overthrowing Hitler. In addition he called on all democracies to get ready for battle. He did it 11 years before the antisemite Churchill.

The US only entered the war in Europe, after Stalin told Roosevelt, he wouldn't help against the Japanese, unless he fought Hitler in Europe.

I'll begin with the latter. The US entered war following the bombing of Pearl Harbor. The Soviets had an agreement with the Japanese and until the beginning of end of '45, if I'm not mistaken, the Soviets did not meddle in the War in the Pacific. The U.S. was supplying the U.K. with weapons and food supplies well before Yalta.

Churchill, based on some of his statements and his biography probably did dislike Jews, but Trotsky and the Enightment movement in Europe was a far greater danger to us and our way of life than did Churchill, who was only mildly anti-Semitic. I won't get any deeper into the discussion of Englightnment and the maskilim because it'll take several pages and is out of place.

The Moscow Trials and the Doctor Plots took place many years following Trotsky's assassination. They were not anti-Trotsky and in fact had nothing to do with Trotsky. It seems foolish on your part, a self-proclaimed historian to argue that.

Trotsky's leadership of the Red Army during the Russian Civil War brought about the deaths of Russia's elite, amongst them thousands of Jews. Following in the footsteps of Marx and Engels, Trotsky denounced religion in general specifically Judaism. His actions led directly to the defeat of the White Army and indirectly to Stalin's emergence as Leader of the Politbereu CPSS.

I've always realized that you're a Communist (not Socialist: don't mince words). My family and my people have suffered greatly because of your hero, Trotsky. Having said this, I consider you an intellectual and as far as I'm concerned, you're a good human being.

  13. Trotsky July 1940: The attempt to solve the Jewish question through the migration of Jews to Palestine can now be seen for what it is, a tragic mockery of the Jewish people. Interested in winning the sympathies of the Arabs who are more numerous than the Jews, the British government has sharply altered its policy toward the Jews, and has actually renounced its promise to help them found their “own home” in a foreign land. The future development of military events may well transform Palestine into a bloody trap for several hundred thousand Jews. Never was it so clear as it is today that the salvation of the Jewish people is bound up inseparably with the overthrow of the capitalist system.

  14. Bah.

Trotsky's recipe for macaroni and cheese calls for the "overthrow of the capitalist system" also. He really is that facile and dull.
